Hurricane chiropractor Dr. Joshua A. Carr, D.C. and the rest of his team is proud to offer many different chiropractic services that can do everything from relieving pain to improving physical performance. We use our services in a completely customizable way—every treatment plan is tailored to the individual, based on his or her needs, health status, and current condition. We invite you to learn about the different chiropractor conditions treated at our clinic and call us if you have questions about how we can help you or a loved one!
Disc Injury
Spinal discs are gel-filled structures surrounded by a tougher cartilage outer layer. Risk factors for a disc injury include aging, repetitive movement, frequent heavy lifting, poor posture, and accidents. An injury to this tissue may alter the joint space between adjacent vertebral bones and lead to compression on a nearby spinal nerve root. Common injuries include disc herniation (the gel core leaks out through a tear in the outer layer), bulge (the disc mis-forms and protrudes out of place), and degenerative disc disease (chronic wear and tear).
Sports Injury
Neither beginner nor experienced athletes are immune to a sports injury. Common types include tendonitis, bursitis, muscle strains, ligament sprains, plantar fasciitis, shin splints, and joint dislocations.
Whiplash
Patients often come to us after car accidents due to neck strain, also known as whiplash. This occurs when the neck rapidly flexes forward and backward and can cause headaches, neck pain and stiffness, and arm and shoulder dysfunction.
Chronic Back Pain
Around 7 out of 10 of us will have back pain at least once. Common underlying causes include muscle spasms, joint subluxations/facet joint locks, stenosis, osteoarthritis, spondylolisthesis, fibromyalgia, and more.
Sciatica and Other Types of Nerve Impingement
The sciatic nerve roots are in your lumbar spine. When compressed by a disc, narrowed joint, or muscle, they can cause pain, numbness, tingling, and weakness in a leg. Nerves can also be pinched elsewhere in the body (e.g., median nerve compression in the carpal tunnel).
Note that this list isn’t all inclusive! We also can help people living with pain and other symptoms related to migraines, TMJ dysfunction, asthma, allergies, work injury, and more. Our non-invasive services—including chiropractic adjustments, massage therapy, physical rehabilitation, and nutritional counseling—restore your body’s neurochemical and hormonal balance, promote pain relief and relaxation, reduce inflammation, speed healing, and improve strength, endurance, and flexibility.
